Newlands Furniture Service was established in 1989 and has been running since, helping the Bradford community with furniture and household items. Most recently in 2018 the service expanded and opened a Food Bank. The furniture outlet recycles good quality furniture and household items back into the community at an affordable cost. Working through the Pandemic to provide over 240,000 meals to families suffering the financial impact of the Pandemic.

John is a local advice worker in the area offering the service his valuable time in a management capacity.
Maria is an accountant from the local area and after growing up in the area and volunteering at the service in the past she offered her time to help the service with accounting and management.
Angela is a local community resident representative, giving the directors/trustee a community point of view as well as volunteering in the stores.
Brenda has been working for the service for 30years, firstly as a volunteer, developing and building the service from the grass routes and the eventually the service was able to offer her a contract of employment.

Newlands furniture service works in close partnership with other projects who help the Homeless, providing New Home start up Packs.
Although our furniture is sold at an affordable price to maintain the service we acknowledge that some people need more assistance.
Start up packs are available to everyone and if you are in need of our assistance please do not hesitate to ask in store.

We report to Bradford Council's Landfill department each month on our environmental benefit to the local community.
Updating them on the amount of furniture and household items that have been recycled, preventing them from going into landfill.
The Service prevents Tonnes of furniture from going into landfill each year.
With the new community outlet at Five Lane Ends which has resulted in more users accessing the service and the Food hub at York House, we are set to increase these figures in 2019-2020.

Food for Life is a 'Community Food Hub' providing food and essential products to local people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Thanks to Big Lottery Funding a shop in York House, has been refurbished to house the Community Food Hub.
Anybody in receipt of benefits/pensions can become members of the Community Food Hub; people can sign up for membership on Tuesday mornings 11 until 12 at the Community Food Hub or Wednesday Mornings 11 until 12 at Rockwell Community Centre.
The hub runs as a 'Community Pantry' where members pay 1.50 pound per visit (they can also donate more if they can afford to) the number of items of shopping depends on the size of their household.
