I qualified as a cabinet maker in 1993 and since then I have undertaken a wide variety of commissions.
If you are interested in having a bespoke piece of furniture made for you I will be happy to discuss any ideas that you have with regards to its design, function, materials and aesthetics.
If you don't have any definite ideas then I will guide you through your thoughts and find what it is you are looking for.
Finally I will produce a finished drawing of the item of furniture and also give you an estimate for the finished price.

Regardless of how old a piece of furniture is, a successful restoration job is one in which an observer cannot see that any restoration work has been carried out in the first place.
Repairs need to be subtle and blend in with the existing wooden surround.
Sometimes there might be a cupboard door that's missing or a damaged piece of carving that needs to be repaired.
Through careful selection of wood, colour staining and distressing, the repair will seamlessly blend in and that's where the real satisfaction from restoration comes.

I have undertaken numerous repairs and restoration to various Ercol pieces of furniture over the years.
Re-lacquering: I use the very latest heat and water resistant acrylic lacquer, which has a durable and natural looking finish.
I usually use a matt or satin finish - depending on the preference of the customer or what finish the piece had originally.
The old surface is always stripped off by hand using wire wool and a scraper, then the wood is lightly sanded with 240 grit paper before the lacquer is applied with a spray gun for a smooth finish.
