Chris Thompson is a Stroud based traditional craftsman who creates bespoke furniture to individual commission. For the past two years or more we have been using Chris to carry out carpentry work on various aspects of WWT restaurant Slimbridge. Chris always gave valid contributions as to the planning and devising of work to be carried out, which reassured us that we could trust his expertise.
Not only was he competitive with his rates, he kept to deadlines and worked with great clarity and above all, precision. Chris took immense care to match details of the early 19th century Pine paneling and the colour of the original, whilst adding his own craftsmanship to the whole. Chris has been designing and constructing projects for us for many years.
These include tables for our lounge, one of which is illustrated above, a sideboard, a dining room table, the fitting out of our study, bathroom cabinets and a computer desk. He is a craftsman with a flair for innovative designs and he is meticulous in carrying out a project.

Services
We try and source all our timber ethically and locally.
Knowledge of the timbers provenance can then enhance and add more depth and interest to the design.
To us, a piece of wood is never just a piece of wood.
In the disposable world of today, timber has become a more valuable resource.
Our focus is utilising what is naturally available, whilst still respecting the value of the product, and constructing our bespoke pieces in the most cost effective way.
Oak, for example, has become a very expensive timber.

We commence each project by contacting you by telephone or email, discussing your ideas and requirements.
This is then followed up with a visit from me, with my suggestions and a variety of wood samples suitable for your piece.
Consideration will be given to the type of woods already used in your house, (if any), and the predominant colour scheme.
We will also take measurements.
A further visit will provide sketched ideas or scaled drawings and an estimate of costs.
We try to design and construct with flair and flexibility allowing for design changes as and when necessary.
