Having years of experience as a cabinet maker, Simon Gear has now opened his own furniture making business in rural Warwickshire, specialising in the design and making of free standing, solid wood furniture. Combining imaginative design, quality craftsmanship with sustainable materials, Simon Gear Handcrafted Furniture aims to bring your furniture dreams into aesthetically pleasing reality.
Simon Gear Handcrafted Furniture uses traditional joints and skills as well as modern methods. The Furniture is hand-made to meet customers' individual design requirements and to the highest level of craftsmanship. Furniture can be made from a variety of hard and softwoods, ranging from the traditional Oak, Elm, Walnut and Cherry, to the more exotic Swiss Pear, Wenge and Zebrano.
Both traditional and contemporary styles are used depending on the clients taste. Every single piece of furniture we build is designed and handmade to each individual customer's specification and is therefore truly bespoke.

Services
Simon Gear Handcrafted Furniture was founded by cabinet maker Simon Gear to produce bespoke handmade furniture of the highest quality.
As a cabinet maker, Simon works primarily with wood, though other materials, such as man-made boards and veneers, may be used where appropriate.
In particular, Simon likes to use hardwoods from sustainably managed woodlands, such as Oak, Ash, American Black Walnut, English walnut and Cherry.
Making bespoke furniture may simply mean adding another piece to fit in with your existing furniture or you may see something you like from pieces we have already made.

The start of the process is an informal meeting to establish your ideas and requirements.
Ideally this will take place in your home, so Simon can get a good idea of where the piece of furniture will belong.
If you have any photos, magazine cuttings or sketches at this stage, it can help the process along.
Types of materials to be used and finishes are discussed at this time.
All of this is free of charge and without obligation.
Once the design and price are agreed and contract signed, a deposit of 50% is needed in order than work can begin.
