Now one of the UK's leading vintage and retro furniture houses, Metroretro has grown from a Camden Market stall in London in the early 1990s, via two London shops to a warehouse-based online business. We supply commercial and private customers with an eclectic mix of vintage and industrial furniture, along with decorative props for all manner of occasions.
We are often called upon to create and source unique, handmade furniture pieces for private and commercial customers alike. In the last ten years a range of our own furniture has also been developed incorporating reclaimed materials, all of which is handmade in East Anglia. The prop hire side of the business incorporates all of the stock for sale, in addition to items that are only available to hire.
Situated on a picturesque farm in rural Essex, our furniture warehouse and workshop are open by appointment. This cupboard is stamped with the CC41 logo, meaning that it was made under Government restrictions either during or directly after the Second World War.

Services
Metroretro started life in 1994 selling vintage design classics such as anglepoise lamps and bakelite telephones in Camden Market, later expanding to selling vintage 1930s and 1950s industrial and Mid-century style furniture through two shops in Islington.
By 2001 the business had become popular with architects and designers sourcing furniture for restaurants and bars as well as visual merchandisers looking for unusual retail display and shop window props.
Around this time a range of furniture was launched to compliment the vintage stock.

We have been manufacturing this range since 2001, for bars, restaurants, offices and also private customers.
The idea is very simple, welded box section steel frames with reclaimed timber plank tops.
Each piece is made to order so exact sizes and specifications aren't a problem.
Larger pieces can be made to assemble on site where access is difficult.
We can also offer a clear powder-coated finish on the frames as well as coloured finishes to any RAL code.
The reclaimed planks are kiln dried and then finished in a clear water based low sheen varnish.
