David Armstrong Furniture Makers is a contemporary furniture making workshop based in a rural setting just south of Bristol and near to Bath. Established in 1981 the company has earned a reputation for quality craftsmanship, timeless design and attention to detail. All of our work is designed and handmade to order and every piece or project the result of sympathetic consultation and well-considered design.
We are cabinetmakers working almost entirely in hardwoods and make bespoke furniture, handmade kitchens and bookcases as well as furniture for bedrooms, bathrooms, studies, offices, receptions and other locations. We encourage people to visit the workshop where we have examples of handmade furniture, many samples and portfolios, and we value the personal relationship we develop with clients.
We have been designing and making bespoke furniture for over 30 years and enjoy the challenge of any project, however large or small, from a free-standing table to a fully-fitted office or handmade kitchen.

Services
David Armstrong trained as a furniture designer at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design in Chislehurst, Kent.
Following this he spent two years in Hampshire building boats, fitting out a 35' ocean racing yacht and building an edition of four wooden Ospreys, before returning to London to join colleagues from college, who had set up workshops in an old warehouse in Docklands.
In 1981 he set up his own workshop south of Bristol.
Since then he has been making bespoke furniture and kitchens and has established a business with a reputation for quality craftsmanship, honest design and attention to detail.

David Armstrong personally meets every client and makes freehand sketches and visualisations during meetings, often visiting clients in their home.
David enjoys tuning in to clients' ideas and devising design solutions for any project, and is happy to liaise with architects and builders.
He has over 30 years experience and offers advice on kitchen layouts, appliances and materials.
Comprehensive measured drawings are produced, aided by the very latest in computer design technology which give photo-realistic views of the furniture in situ.

The workshop is situated in Farrington Gurney a short distance off the A37.
Pitway Lane is just south of the Murco garage on the A37 in Farrington Gurney.
Come down Pitway Lane for just over a quarter of a mile (it's quite narrow at the end) just before the road turns into a muddy track turn left through the silver gates, the workshop is in front of you.

We specialise in handmade bespoke kitchens, which are made in a variety of materials and finishes - hardwood kitchens and painted kitchens with Corian, granite and solid wood worktops.
Each one of our handmade fitted kitchens is the result of a close collaboration with the client, listening carefully and drawing out ideas, preparing sketches and offering good advice.
With over 30 years' experience in this field we are experienced in making the process smooth and enjoyable for our clients.
We are happy to manage the project from start to finish, or fit in with architects and builders and work to an agreed deadline.

A stunning and highly practical kitchen in French Oak with Sensa Orinoco granite worktops.
The doors were made from one exceptional log of French Oak which was 6m long.
We managed to run the grain of the timber along both runs of the wall cabinets creating a beautiful continuity.
The horizontal wall cabinet doors are all operated by Blum Aventos HF servo drive units for ease of use and unhindered accessibility.
The worktops too are super wide giving plenty of room for gadgets and appliances!
What a lovely pale oak kitchen this is.
