For a longer lasting finish some customers may require modern polishes and finishes. These are applied and then hand finished to give a true Antique look and feel but without the need for much maintainance and additional after care.

If the item needs work away from the home then the work is scheduled to fit in with your availability. No need to take time off, we work around you. Traditional Hand Polishing using a cotton cloth soaked in French Polish/ Shellac is a time consuming way to finish Antiques or fine furniture.
Hand polishing can take several days as we have to allow for the slow drying of traditional finishes and to slowly build up the depth of polsh required.
It is not a tough finish and cannot withstand a harsh environment but its has a look and feel that is unrivalled.
Using up to date modern Lacquers and Stains can give a very durable and very long lasting low maintainance finish to any piece.

The prcoess can take quite a few hours.
The drying time and release/ evaporation of the chemicals can a few days.
We take great care to use as many safe and environmentally freindly products as possible.
The stripper we use is safe once neutraised with water so the disposal of waste doeas not harm the environment.
Once the stripping process is complete some customers may wish to view the items at this stage to help choose a suitable colour and finish.
