Services
The business was founded in 2002, by Steve Hedger (himself an ex-addict) who, through working with others in recovery, realised that there was a real need for supported work placements and resettlement back in the community.
He says, Chissock Woodcraft evolved from my love of furniture and wood combined with a burning desire to help others find the same freedom from addiction that I had experienced.
In the security of a loving and supportive environment, men and women can learn new skills and grow stronger in their recovery.
At Chissock Woodcraft, we offer a bespoke furniture making service to our customers.
In addition we make our own range of furniture.
Where possible, we use reclaimed timber to build items of furniture and we only use timber that is sourced from sustainably managed forests that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
We offer a design and build service and work with our customers to create items that are both unique and specific to their requirements.
Our furniture is made by combining traditional skills and craftsmanship with a contemporary feel for design.
We offer a professional repair service for all your furniture whether it be antique, vintage or modern.
This can be from straight forward chair and table repairs, cleaning and reviving old finishes to more substantial renovation work.
Each item that is brought to us is assessed individually with the customer to decide the best way to proceed.
At Chissock Woodcraft we have always been committed to reclaiming timber, furniture and architectural features.
Good quality timber is recycled into our furniture making business - old wardrobes become chests and disused science lab benches become coffee tables.
Timber that cannot be used in our furniture making project is turned into either briquettes or kindling wood by our recycling business Chissock Woodsave.

We now offer a limited stock of timber for re-sale ranging from old beams and joists to timber suitable for many DIY projects.
The aim of our 'Skills for Recovery' project is to provide accessible learning to those recovering from addiction.
In our 'Skills for Recovery' project, we work with Oxford & Cherwell Valley College to deliver a range of accessible learning modules to those who have been outside formal learning for most of their lives.
We offer both pre-NVQ training modules and NVQs up to level 2 in woodworking skills.
Our aim is to enable our beneficiaries, preparing them for future employment and to develop life skills.
