Working between The Old Dairy, deep in the Kent countryside and at The Printhouse in the heart of East London, Milkwood is a small but perfectly formed company of highly skilled cabinet makers, finishers and fitters serving London and the South East. We've been designing and handcrafting bespoke furniture for homes across London, Kent and beyond since 2000.
In early 2019 we opened a second workshop at The Printhouse in Dalston, East London. Our sister workshop, Milkwood London, now serves the capital with beautifully designed and perfectly built, fitted furniture. We hand make every piece of individual bespoke fitted furniture to the highest possible standards. Carefully sourcing and matching the materials we use, to completing everything from the initial design sketches, to spray finishing by our expert craftsmen.
Even though we still give ourselves splinters from time to time, we're proud to preserve the legacy of traditional furniture makers, using our hands to create beautiful bespoke furniture that's perfect for you.

Milkwood started out as Woodgate Design - after my family name - when I set the business up in 2000 after first studying Sculpture & then Furniture Design at the old London College of Furniture.
My first joinery workshop was on Southgate Road in Islington, London.
Eventually I outgrew it and we moved to Kent to a much bigger workshop in an old dairy building on a farm surrounded by woodland.
The farmer who we rent it from remembers milking the cows by hand in our old milking parlour when he was a boy & we decided to incorporate the history of our new premises into the new name for our business.

Our work is built to last, using timber from certified sources, made in our workshops powered with 75% renewable energy.
In 2020 we took a step further and teamed up with Mossy Earth, in order to support their incredible work restoring forests across Europe.
Every 250 spent with us will enable Mossy Earth to plant a tree on your behalf.
