Sometimes there can be a chemical smell that is given off when new.
This is due to the fire retardancy spray which is required by law and should disappear after the mattress has been aired for a day.
All mattresses are required to be turned and rotated unless the manufacturer advises otherwise.
If your mattress only needs to be rotated (head to foot) this should be done every week for the first 2 months, then every month after that.
