We are a group of three charities helping local communities by putting pre-owned donated furniture back into circulation, reducing waste through reuse and upcycling, and providing employment and skills experience to people facing long term unemployment or barriers to work. Our stores are open to everyone to buy good quality pre-owned furniture at affordable prices.
To donate items or find out about volunteering opportunities please call your local store. Some of our volunteers working hard in the workshop learning how to upcycle old, unwanted furniture and learning new skills.

Services
The first Community Furniture Store was established in 1988, to support the residents of York, a second store opened in Selby in 2004, and our third store in Scarborough opened in 2015.
Over the years, thousands of each stores local households have benefited from low cost furniture; and many local residents have gained work experience, new skills and improved their confidence and well-being through volunteering in store and workshop placements.
Each store works in a very similar way and relies on donations of reuseable furniture, appliances and other household items, which we are always happy to receive.

As well as upcycling donated items, the Selby Workshop has developed a range of innovative garden furniture that can be made to fit the customers needs and is built to order.

Whatever you are donating if you are a UK taxpayer we can increase the value of your donation through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you.
The extra revenue generated by Gift Aid when you donate furniture allows us to keep our prices low and carry on our work to support people in the local community.
If you have furniture or household items you no longer want or need, rather than just throwing it away why not donate it so that someone else can make use of it.
As long as it's reusable your old furniture could be just the thing someone else needs.
